Capacitor Bank

Capacitor Bank - Switchgear components supplier in Bangladesh

Power capacitors for PFI panels.

Power capacitors supply the reactive power that motors and transformers need, so it does not have to come from the utility. Grouped in steps inside a PFI plant, they raise the power factor, lower the current and help avoid power factor penalties.

Available ratings

5 KVAR, 10 KVAR, 12.5 KVAR, 25KVAR

Where it is used

  • Automatic PFI plants in factories and buildings
  • Fixed compensation at large motors
  • Transformer no-load compensation
  • Replacing worn capacitors in existing panels

How to choose

  • kVAR rating per step, for example 5, 10, 12.5 or 25 kVAR.
  • Rated voltage above the system voltage, with margin where harmonics are present.
  • Detuned reactors where many VFDs or UPS units create harmonics.
  • Safety features: discharge resistors and pressure-sensitive disconnectors.

Why buy from Unique Quality Engineering

Since 2012 we have supplied genuine components from ABB, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Mitsubishi and Fuji Electric to panel builders, factories and contractors across Bangladesh. Our engineers help you choose the right rating and model, and we use the same parts in the panels we build ourselves.

Frequently asked questions

How many kVAR do I need?

kVAR = kW × (tan φ1 − tan φ2). For example, raising 500 kW from 0.80 to 0.97 power factor needs about 250 kVAR. See our PFI plant guide.

How long do capacitors last?

With good ventilation and correct voltage, many years. Capacity drops slowly, so check each step once or twice a year.

Why do capacitors fail early?

Common causes are overheating, overvoltage and harmonics from drives. Detuned reactors and good ventilation help.
