How do I know if I need a PFI plant?
Check the power factor line on your electricity bill. If you pay a power factor penalty, or the power factor is below about 0.95, a PFI plant will help.
How is a PFI plant sized?
kVAR = kW × (tan φ1 − tan φ2). For 500 kW from 0.80 to 0.97 power factor this is about 250 kVAR. See our PFI guide.
Can you repair or upgrade an old PFI panel?
Yes. We replace worn capacitors, contactors and relays and re-tune the plant.
