Changeover Switch

Changeover Switch - Panel boards supplier in Bangladesh

Manual changeover switches to move a load between the grid and a generator supply.

A changeover switch moves a load from one supply to another, usually from the grid to a standby generator, so the two sources are never connected together. For automatic switching, see our ATS panel.

Where it is used

  • Homes and shops with a small generator
  • Offices and small factories
  • Pump and lift supplies with generator backup
  • Any load that needs a safe two-source switch

How to choose

  • Current rating for the full load or the generator output.
  • Poles: 2-pole for single-phase, 4-pole for three-phase with neutral.
  • Mounting: in an enclosure or inside a DB.
  • Manual or automatic: choose an ATS panel if no one can switch over by hand.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need a changeover switch with a generator?

It prevents the generator and the utility supply from being connected together, which protects the generator, your equipment and line workers.

Can a changeover switch be automatic?

A manual changeover switch is operated by hand. For automatic switching use an ATS panel.

Which rating do I need?

At least the generator rated current. For a three-phase generator at 415 V this is about 1.39 A per kVA.
