Molded Case Circuit Breaker [MCCB]

A molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) protects feeders, machines and distribution boards against overload and short circuit. It covers ratings from a few amps up to 1600 A, and many models have adjustable thermal and magnetic settings.

• Capacitor steps in PFI plants and generator outputs

How to choose

• Frame and rated current to suit the load and the cable.
• Breaking capacity (Icu/Ics) above the fault level at that point.
• Fixed or adjustable trip – adjustable or electronic trips allow better coordination.
• Poles: 3-pole for three-phase loads, 4-pole where the neutral must be switched.
• Accessories: rotary handle, shunt trip, auxiliary contacts, motor operator.
